Mercy Alarid -  Master's Degree - Education

Mercy was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to visionary parents who made bilingual education a priority for their children. She gave her life to Christ at the age of 4 when she witnessed her sister get healed of a severe and incurable eye condition. She studied Architecture at the National University of Honduras, and in 1995, sensing a call to ministry, she left her home, family, career and country and moved to the United States to study theology.

In 1997, she married Brian Alarid, and together they are raising their three beautiful children—Chloe, Colin and Lauren. Brian and Mercy are the Lead Pastors of Passion Church and Iglesia Pasión, two congregations that serve English and Spanish-speaking people. She also serves as the President of the PTA at Coronado Elementary School. Mercy has a Master’s Degree in Education from Regent University, and is currently completing her Doctorate in Education. Passion Preschool was birthed out of her passion to provide quality Christian bilingual education for children. Her vision is to continue building this school into a full Pre-K-12 school and start Christian bilingual schools in cities across New Mexico.

Darlene Eidem -Bachelor's of Science - Education
Director / Teacher 4 Year Olds

darlenewebDarlene was born in South Texas but spent a majority of her life in Albuquerque.  She graduated from Del Norte High School and attended UNM on a Presidential Scholar Scholarship.  She graduated UNM with a Bachelor's of Science with a major in Elementary Education and minors in Math and Science.  She worked for Rio Rancho Public School for 6 years.

In 1997, she met her husband and her step-daughter Taylor who was 3 at the time.   They have now been married 14 years.   When her daughter Aspen was born, she became a stay home mom to raise her daughter. During this time, she helped develop crafts for the preschool at Sagebrush Community Church.  This is where she found preschool fun and exciting.   When it was time for Aspen to enter kindergarten, Darlene sought out another teaching job and was hired by Hope Christian School.  She remained there as a preschool teacher for six years until joining Passion Preschool.  The last two years at Hope Christian School, she was the Assistant Director of the Preschool.

She was raised in a Christian home, but didn't find a true relationship with the Lord until age 17.  During a Michael W. Smith concert, she really felt His presence.  Darlene has attended Sagebrush Community Church since 2002 (it was formerly known as Hoffmantown West).

Besides teaching preschool, Darlene teaches acrobatics at Fishback Studio of the Dance.  She took dance and acrobatic class there as a teenager.  Shortly after college, she went back to the studio as a teacher. Darlene continues to take dance classes in addition to teaching.  One of the ways she feel closest to God is when she is choreographing an acrobatic piece.  She also enjoys swimming, going for walks with her family, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
